A genus of two clustering palmate palms from China and Vietnam. The leaves are deeply divided, and the palms bear orange to red fruits They are remarkably cold tolerant palms.

Cultural requirements and other comments: This gorgeous and unusual palm can be grown in deep shade or sunny locations, except in very hot climates. In Kona, for instance, they will need a little protection from continuous sun. The flowers are maroon but unpleasant in odor, so they should not be planted right by one’s bedroom window!
