five species have pinnate leaves and semi-bulbous trunks with thin leaf crowns. Relatively drought tolerant, many of these palms
can be found growing in limestone hills. |

1. G. attenuata
Height: up to 40 feet
Size of Crown: 16-8 feet (sparse) |
| Cultural requirements and other comments: Native to Puerto Rico,
C. attenuata grows naturally on limestone hillsides. It is a slow-growing palm that needs adequate drainage and an open sunny
location. It has a slightly bulbous trunk at immature stages, but becomes slender with maturity. The leaf crown is upright and
sparse, which makes it an ideal palm for group planting. |
