1. N. normanbyi (Black Palm)
Height: up to 60 feet
Size of Crown: 10-15 feet
Cultural requirements and other comments: A solitary palm sometimes confused with Wodyetia bifurcata, the Foxtail palm, but slower growing. It can be seen naturally growing in swampy, lowland areas. The silver or grayish quality of the leaves and the white rings of leaf base scars on the smooth, slender trunk are very attractive features of this palm. N. normanbyi thrives in areas where moisture and organic matter are consistently available. This is an excellent choice for smaller gardens.
